Polish Devlog 02: April Showers Bring May Flowers

Hello everyone! Welcome to our latest and final devlog!

Art!

Let's start shall we?

Our User Interfaces were overhauled and tweaked.
Let's start with our main menu where we changed some of the asset placement and changed the colour palette to get a cleaner and less busy look.

The game over menu got an overhaul as well, with a new background image, less clutter and a newly implemented message to congratulate you upon reaching a new high score.

That is not all! When you open the game. You'll be greeted by new sounds in the main menu.
Let's move on to particles. They were all tweaked to better fit the actions they illustrate. Alongside these, a particle was fully implemented to display just how fast the snake glides over the pond to wreak havoc on poor Myrrha's lilies.

Programming!

Changes were made to how the player, can notice when Myrrha is in danger. In addition to the vignette, the player will now also get a screenshake to signify Myrrha losing a life. Similarly,  lily pads will also start shaking when they're about to be completely submerged and destroyed. This in combination with the particle effects of rippling water should give the player enough warning to get Myrrha out of there!

But water is not the only liquid threatening our brave hero. As in previous builds, a snake will glide over the level and spit its venom to destroy the lily pads. Rather than the placeholder we had before, the venom particle is now completely implemented. Its bright colour is sure to call attention to the player for a quick interception. If the player fails however, the fully implemented dissolve particle will be triggered and the pad will be destroyed.

Luckily, with high risks come high rewards. The score counting has been revamped and now there are various new ways for the player to gain some extra points. You'll notice when you've done something right when a small text pops up at the location of your heroic deed, showing exactly how much extra points you've gained.

Lastly, the throw indicator was tweaked to accurately display where the player's thrown fruit will land.

And that's it! We're so glad and grateful that you've decided to join us on this journey to get Myrrha done from start to finish. We hope you enjoy our work and we'll see you in Myrrha's pond!
